Lepe Dolphins Lepe Beach
The two structures at Lepe Beach on the Hampshire coast are remnants of an embarkation pierhead used to load troops and vehicles onto ships for the World War 2 D-Day landings at Normandy. The sailors manning them were called the dolphins, hence these structures are now known as the ‘Lepe Dolphins’.
