Fresh&Easy
Fresh and Easy, brought to Nevada in November, 2007. Loved by the young professional on the go and ignored by everyone else. Brought to the U.S. by Tesco, and immediately they decided to grow the chain at an impressive rate through out the Las Vegas Valley.
However, while stores increasingly popped up in seemingly every suburban street corner, their customer base didn't grow with them. Once the recession hit, so did their already loyal but limited customer base.. By 2013 Tesco had lost around 2 billion dollars according to the associated press.
Ron Burkle's Yucaipa Company acquired Fresh and Easy in 2013, and while trying to revive the store, it was to no avail. In October of 2015 Yucaipa announced that it would close all of its Fresh and Easy stores. Since then all 97 of its stores through out Nevada, Arizona and California have closed.
The last three Fresh and Easy signs (that I know of) in the Valley are these ones I shot just the other day. Now the store with its fresh green stucco is becoming a Dollar Tree. You can see on the front of the building where the old sign was once kept, now only leaving a silhouette until a new sign takes its place.
