Paimpol désormais port de plaisance fut réputé fin 19ème/début 20ème pour sa pêche à la morue (cabillaud) en Islande.
Le roman "Pêcheurs d'Islande" de Pierre LOTI relate très bien cette époque de la grande pêche. Nombreux furent les marins noyés en mer avec leurs embarcations lors de ces campagnes très périlleuses en Islande et à Terre-neuve. Le port de Paimpol à son apogée abritait une centaine de goélettes.

Paimpol now marina was deemed late 19th / early 20th for its fishing cod in Iceland.
Pierre LOTI's novel "Fishermen of Iceland" is a very good example of this time of great fishing. Many sailors drowned at sea with their boats during these very dangerous campaigns in Iceland and Newfoundland. The port of Paimpol at its peak housed one hundred boats.
