Assignment 2

I am a beginner at photo editing, and was going to use iphoto for edits, however after reading a recommendation on the forum, I used PicMonkey.com for this assignment. This is my edited photograph, my original is on my photostream. I took this in the yard of my son's orphanage in Haiti. It is a picture of a broken toy baby stroller that one of the boys used to "build" a car. It struck me as impressive that in such a shattered place these children can learn to make their own magic, which was the inspiration for my edits. I adjusted the contrast and the shadows, bumped up the saturation slightly to make the bright colors pop. I also used the "sharpen" tool to make all of the edges crisp and bring out the detail. Then, I used a texture layer of colored light bursts, moving the location of the bursts so that they highlighted the subject of my composition. The end result is what I see as being the moment of transformation from brokenness to beauty. Hope you enjoy! ~ Laura
