Hackberry Emperor Butterfly

The hardest part of photographing this butterfly was it was too darn friendly. My 100-400 lens is able to focus very close but it's useless at taking pictures of things sitting ON the lens. I would carefully remove it by letting it sit on my finger for a while. It would take off and then return to my lens. Finally, the two had a falling out and it landed on the gravel trail. Photographed in the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge in western Wisconsin.
