Ka952 was one of 35 Ka class 4-8-4 locomotives built locally at the NZR Hutt workshops between 1939 and 1944.
Ka952 entered service in 1939 with a makers number of 335. The loco was withdrawn in October 1966.
Da1457 was built by GM Canada with a makers number of A1940 and entered service on NZR in November 1962. Based on the G12 model with a wheel arrangement of A1A-A1A the loco was converted to Dc4939 and was withdrawn from service on 14/08/2017.
