Ready To Love Again 54/365
She grieved Atticus’s death so deeply. Each of us did. Our friend and loyal companion, a loss so heavy, a shock so shattering. We cried and we shared and we retold the story of that night and wished we had done this or that differently, some little thing that would have changed that terrible outcome.
And the emptiness in our house echoed through the spaces as we shared memories of Atticus, as we went about our daily life.
Then, to my surprise, I found that, mingling with our grief, my heart, our hearts, yearned to love anew.
So we dreamed again. And planned. And counted down days. And now I watch my family, embracing this new little one.
And today I watch my daughter who feels so deeply, who loves and cries and laughs with her whole soul, learning that our hearts expand, finding she is willing to take the risk, breathing deep and resting in the discovery that she is ready to love again.
