Reredos Large IMG_8458
Part of a reredos designed and made by Frank Roper.
In 1964 he developed a new metal sculpture technique in aluminium for the Stations of the Cross at St Martin’s and St Saviour’s Splott, Cardiff establishing a foundry on the ground floor of his home in Penarth and relegating his family to the upstairs rooms. This method involved encasing a polystyrene model in sand. Molten aluminium was then poured in, so vaporising the plastic and forming an identical casting.
