Lithuanian auroch - a king of Lithuanian woods!

European aurochs are enrolled in the Red Book. They were widespread in European woods in the 16th century. Years ago, it was believed that these animals were extinct. However, their population has been restored again. It all started with the first two Belavezha aurochs brought from Russia’s aurochs reserve in 1969 to Pašiliai in Lithuania. Today, you can meet over 200 of these gigantic animals roaming free in Pašiliai forest!
