Kates Siding

Kates Siding

Kates Siding was a short rail line that operated from 21st of April 1897. Up to four trains daily connected via Kates with the main line services, these trains would carrying anything from people to timber. As the years went by, more main roads where built in the area and freight would see trucks as a better option, as did a lot of Australia. 1995 would see the closer of this bit of line that is now owned by the local rail museum, who hope to offer steam train rides on this section in the future. The museum will have there work cut out for them tho as this section of rail become very damaged in places due to the 2011 floods
