Veil Nebula

Found in the constellation of Cygnus, the veil nebula lies about 2,100 light years away and spans a distance of roughly 110 light years.

It is the remnants of a star that died about 8,000 years ago.

The blast wave is still expanding out and as it comes in to contact and interacts with cooler gases we get the lovely colours.

This is a 4 panel mosaic captured from the Astronomy Centre close to Todmorden, UK.

Boring Techie bit:

Telescope: Askar FRA400 with 0.7x reducer.

Processed in PixInsight and Affinty Photo.

The 4 panels were combined using Microsoft ICE.
