In the pink

A little Sweet William flower in our front garden. I didn't realise how many different shades of pink were in this until I took the shot and uploaded it to a big screen. The flower itself is about 25mm across.

A 25 image in-camera focus stack taken handheld with the Canon R10, RF24-240 lens and Nisi close up lens.

This was just a little experiment in using the Nisi close up lens with some focus stacking. The Nisi close up attachment lens basically cuts down the minimum focus distance of any lens it is mounted on to around 6 inches (instead of about 2 feet for this particular one) but in doing so, it also creates an incredibly thin or shallow DOF. That is why there seems to be a ridiculous number of shots used in the stack, but it did need every one of them to cover the one inch of DOF in this.

The R10 did all this very quickly, seeming to fire off all the shots remarkably quickly in maybe one second or so, then just a few seconds to process it all.
