Mersey Bluff sunset

This is an unusual view of the lovely old Mersey Bluff lighthouse at Devonport in Tasmania. It is usually photographed during the day when its striking bright red and white vertical stripes stand out against the blue sky. But I was there at sunset and only had one camera with me - the 3D World medium format stereo film camera. And, it only had one shot left on the film! I seem to recall waiting patiently for almost half an hour for the light to be just right for my intended silhouette sunset shot. While I was waiting, there was another fellow there with the latest (in 2006) digital camera and he had taken maybe 200 shots in that time just like I do myself these days).

This shot is part of what will be a large number of slide scans that I will be posting from my old medium format stereo slide collection. They are mostly from Tasmania and taken between 2006 and 2009. Generally, they will be in the original square format, but just occasionally I will present a wider looking crop. I'll post another picture of the camera in question soon.

Original slide scanned with a Canon R10, RF 24-240 lens and Nisi close up lens attachment.
