"King of the Mountain"
Well, it's that time of year again for Aussie rev-heads. The Bathurst 1000 race is coming up this weekend at Mount Panorama in Bathurst, and I am getting in full couch potato mode ready for three days of V8 racing in front of the telly!
Although I don't normally follow the full motorsport season, I do have a special place for this particular race at Mount Panorama motor racing circuit, having been involved in the TV broadcast of the race many years ago. The broadcast itself actually won a TV Week Logie Award during one of my broadcast jobs there, and despite the presenter Bill Woods mentioning my position in the Logies acceptance speech, they strangely haven't sent me the Logie yet! ; )
This is my 1/18th scale die-cast model of the 2009 winner of this iconic race. This 2009 Holden VE Commodore was driven by Will Davison and Garth Tander, who won the Peter Brock King of the Mountain Trophy for 2009.
Taken with a backdrop of the Grampians Mountain range, taken from the Big Hill lookout in Stawell, Victoria. This shot was displayed on my computer screen with the model mounted just in front and lit with an LED desk lamp set on warm white to blend with the sunset colours.
