The survivor

The Cazneaux tree is an old river red gum that was made famous by the photographer Harold Cazneaux back in 1937. The photo was titled "The spirit of endurance" and was described at the time as being his most "Australian" picture. The background is the western edge of Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges, mid-north of South Australia.
