Crosthwaite Church

Unpredictable spring weather ensured that there were plenty of beautiful moments during my visit to the Lake District, especially around sunset. This HDR shot of a picturesque church in the village of Crosthwaite represents probably the most spectacular evening of the lot.

The most bizarre thing about this shot is the church itself, which you will notice is lit from the front even though the sun is behind it. This is because a huge misty cloud opposite the church was actually acting as a giant reflector, giving me the perfect lighting by complete coincidence.

Nature has a funny way of helping you out sometimes!
