Mt.baker and meteor shower
Shooting meteor showers has been a fun hobby for me and from a photography perspective, the most compelling images are those with the most interesting foreground. This year in August, we got lucky as the peak of the annual Perseid meteor shower happened during new moon and it was also a saturday which means I don't have to take a day off work.
This image was captured in the mt.baker wilderness. We hiked about 6 miles to this spot with our camping gear. I was amazed during day time that how close we were to Mt.Baker, a majestic volcano in the Washington state very close to Canadian border. I already planned all my shots before I even went there, so as the night fell, I set up three cameras pointing at different directions and let them run overnight.
The meteors in this image were taken from a single camera at 14mm. There were like 900 photos and I had to pick the ones with visible meteors and composite them together.
I hope you enjoy this work.
