Determination

This was Mt.Baker standing tall in the distance with last bit of sunset colors still left on the sky. Thick clouds were moving around in the valley below and everything was snow covered around me. This is an image that I would have missed if I didn't push myself to the limit during the hike up and I am glad I did.

We started our hike at around 9-10am down from trailhead. It was a group of 5-6 people and we determined to snowshoe up to the ridge with nice view of Mt.Baker and overnight there. A couple of days before the hike, it snowed a lot and now trail was literally gone and we had to break our own way up. Generally people take turns to break the trail because it is really tiring to be on the front line . We did the same at the beginning, but soon realized our pace was not good enough to make to the ridge before dark. I was feeling good that day and volunteered to break the majority of trail for my group. Maybe I pushed myself too hard during this process and my leg started to feel cramped when we were almost to the camp. I tried to just embrace all the pains and kept going with my last bit of energy. Finally we made it to the ridge a little bit after sunset and while everyone was setting up tents and preparing for a hot dinner, I grabbed this shot to remember the scenery we worked so hard for.
