Early bird
This image was a big surprise to me and here is why.
I visited White Sand National Park in Dec 2021 and at that time sunrise was at around 6:55am, but the park gate opened at 7am. From the gate it is a 15 minutes drive to the sand dunes that I'd like to shoot. If everything goes as said, I will be at the sand dune parking lot earliest at 7:15am, which is 20 minutes after sunrise. So there is no way I could have captured the very best golden light casting on these amazing sand dunes.
However, I remember on that day, I arrived at the park entrance at 6:45am and surprisingly the gate was open! Without a further hesitation, I drove in and arrived at the parking lot near these dunes at 7am. The sun had just peaked through horizon and ripples on the dunes were clean and pristine. I took this image right next to the parking lot and absolutely I love the texture, shape and the colors presented in this shot!
