Enchantments - Prusik Pass

Backpacking and photographing Enchantments core zone in larch season has been a dream for me. It is a dream because the chance to win a permit during larch season was extremelly hard.

Last year in 2020, because of Covid, all of the walk-up permits were cancelled, and instead they were granted via an online permit system and I was lucky to get one.

However, a couple of days before our trip, a heavy snowfall made this area very difficult to access and what was worse is that during our stay, a blizzard came on the first night and strong gust up to like 60 MPH hit our campsite on the second night, destroying my friends' two tents as well as my trekking poles at night. It also made us change the decision and left a day earlier than expected.

During my two-night stay there, although I took like 10 pounds of camera gear, I only had one chance to take photos which happened during a small window before the sunset of the second night. This shot was taken at Prusik Pass. The mountain in the far distance is Mt.Adams and the lake is Perfection Lake, which is where we camped.

Hopefully some time in the future I can come back and see the beautiful larches here.
