The Veil Nebula in Cygnus

A beautiful remnant of a super nova explosion 2400 light years away. Taking place some 10,000 to 20,000 year ago this would have put on quiet a show. The nebula in this image is about 6x the diameter of the full Moon and is comprised of multiple filaments of excited gases giving it a delicate beautiful structure. The Hubble space telescope has recorded the expansion of 1.5 million kilometers per hour in images taken between 1995 and 2015. A favorite target for both observers and astrophptrographers.

Taken at the Dark Sky Viewing Area in Lennox and Addington county over a 3 night period.
