Wren the Forrester
DBC2 Entry: Verath the Swift (Story)
I've also written a short story telling the tale of how Elmyra and Verath met each other. You can read it here:
The last few flames of my fire were burning out, and the chills of evening were beginning to settle in.
I wrap my cloak around me, trying to conserve as much heat as I can.
It had been about a week and a half since I’d been banished from Thyalon and my food supply was beginning to run on empty. It was all forests and swamps until the next village and I was beginning to become worried about how it will take to reach it.
I could feel sleep slowly ebbing away at my consciousness and, after doing a cursory check around the vicinity, I let it.
But before I can completely drift off, I notice something. My ears had picked it up first, a slow, controlled breath that mingled with the cool breeze that ruffled the leaves around me. Somebody was here, with me.
I quickly reach for my sword, it was within arm’s reach and I grabbed it easily.
I could feel my heart pumping under my chest, pushing blood all throughout my body so I can run if need be.
And then I see it, a face, looking at me through the trees. The face was reptilian in shape and look. It’s scales were a dark blue and the fire reflected of them as it would a mirror.
It is at this point I realize what this creature was, a dragon!
