rainy westerland

Today's Friday Rose "Westerland" from my garden is one of the most beautiful and colourful shrub roses. It was crossed by the rose breeder Reimer Kordes in 1969 from the yellow Floribunda 'Friedrich Wörlein' and the pink-yellow Floribunda 'Circus'. It is named after the town of Westerland on the island of Sylt. Its large, semi-double flowers are a delightful treat for the eyes with their coppery orange colour. They are rain resistant (not so important nowadays), open broadly cupped and give off a pleasant medium strong fragrance.
