Canyon de Bozouls.
Le Trou de Bozouls est une gorge en forme de fer à cheval, de 400 mètres de diamètre et de plus de 100 mètres de profondeur, situé sur le territoire de la commune de Bozouls, dans le département français de l'Aveyron.
Géologie
Ce méandre encaissé a été creusé par l'action érosive des eaux courantes du Dourdou dans les calcaires secondaires du Lias du Causse Comtal. Il s'agit ainsi d'un canyon et d'une reculée karstique du Dourdou (échancrure s’enfonçant dans le massif calcaire, en recul par rapport à la ligne de la falaise et soumise à l’érosion chimique de l’eau).
Environnement
Le site est protégé en tant qu'espace naturel sensible.
Activité
Le funambule Henry's en a fait le théâtre de certains de ses exploits, en 1980, durant l'été 1982, puis en 1995.
The Trou de Bozouls is a horseshoe-shaped gorge, 400 meters in diameter and more than 100 meters deep, located in the territory of the commune of Bozouls, in the French department of Aveyron.
Geology
This deep meander was dug by the erosive action of the running waters of the Dourdou in the secondary limestones of the Lias of the Causse Comtal. It is thus a canyon and a remote karst of the Dourdou (notch sinking into the limestone massif, set back from the line of the cliff and subject to chemical erosion of the water).
Environment
The site is protected as a sensitive natural area.
Activity
The tightrope walker Henry's made it the scene of some of his exploits, in 1980, during the summer of 1982, then in 1995.
