Green Lights at Night

A vast array of changing colors paint the sky with astrological beauty during a particularly strong aurora borealis. The northern lights were cast upon much of country, even as far south as Texas, due to a strong geomagnetic storm. We were able to vaguely see the lights with the naked eye, but they really showed their true colors with the magic of long exposure shots. Seen here at the Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area, hundreds of people visited the lake to see one of our universe's many wonders. It might be hard to believe, but my friends and I barely saw a shooting star streak across the sky behind us while waiting for our long exposures to process. On top of that, earlier in the day we saw a double rainbow following a beautiful cloud and sunray display. This was my first time seeing the northern lights and a shooting star, and its something I'll never forget.
