The Daily Good Morning *Afternoon Repast* 01282018

What does it take to convince many people, to fight most other people, for the profit of the few?

In January 1916, the US Government actually had a smaller army than most industrialized countries. Difficult to imagine given today's Military Industrial Complex. Given the growing complexity and atrocity of World War I the "Preparedness" movement was started to raise money from the citizens of the country to help fund the raising of an army.

In actuality, it was the munitions manufacturers, stoking the flames of battle, so that they could sell arms to both sides. World War I happened so that those who were inventing and invested in explosives, could profit. That, dear readers, was the true beginning, of the capitalist control of the country through bloodlust.

In the Presidential election of 1916, Woodrow Wilson ran for a second term. One of his main promises was to keep the USA out of The Great War. By April 1917, Wilson signed a declaration of war.

Much of this change came from the "Zimmerman Telegram"...which, if you are unfamiliar with, contains some fascinating parallels to our present day in regards to decoded cables, absurd promises, and the swaying of public sentiment, toward war...
