And that's a wrap. Was it worth wasting my last few hours of RSIA on KCS? Probably not. Was it worth it in order to capture a photo of KCS on their last day of operations as an independent railroad? Also probably not. In any case, it was kind of cool, I guess. I won't bore you all with a backstory of what this railroad means to me. Simply because it isn't relevant to me. I spent most of my childhood on the UP and the aforementioned MNA. KCS was always just a fallback railroad to watch when the others weren't busy. That being said, I'm sure it will be some time before the image of KCS is gone forever (so stop calling them CPKC units, you didn't call Santa Fe locomotives BNSF immediately on September 22nd in 1995, did you?) I'm definitely not going to miss the bleached and faded ES44's that smell like the toilet hasn't been emptied in 3 Goddamn years (but hey, anything is better than an NS unit.)
