I had the opportunity to head back to Herdsman Lake on Saturday and came across a small island of grass approximately 10m from the shoreline upon which Australasian Shovelers, Pied Stilts and a brace of Black Swans were happily preening themselves between light rain showers. I was drawn to this Black Swan and the intricate way it was checking every feather and looking very regal in the process.
