International Cakes Top view

I made these cakes for my ds's international festival. The cake is sour cream pound cake, filled with duchess cream (pastry cream mixed with whipped cream). The crumb coat is a very light strawberry-grape glaze. The base icing is buttercream and the top is a marshmellow rolled fondant. The figures are made from a mix of MM fondant and gum paste. I piped hair with royal icing and some of the hair strings are extruded fondant. The flowers are royal icing. I downloaded the school logo and class list and had it printed at a local bakery: every kid at the school had their name on the cake. Very fun project, lots of work, but the homemade touch made a tasty and festive cake. The display is Wilton's 3 tiered cakes and more stand that I was able to get with a half price coupon.
