For my final photo series, I chose to portray the idea of perseverance. The definition of perseverance is the steady persistence in a course of action. I want to express how important it is to hang on and continue throughout life even if there are difficulties and challenges in the way. Not only does perseverance occur within living things such as people and animals, but it also takes place in non living things like plants and rocks. So the theme of my photo series that I chose consists of nature’s perseverance.
While looking at my final photos, I believe two of them stand out that show perseverance. The first one is the flower with only half of its pedals left. I captured this picture after the day it was really windy outside during fall break. Before the wind, the flower had all of its pedals, but when I took the photo half of them blew away. So the point is that the flower survived throughout the windy conditions. This also relates to real life. For instance, the flower represents a person and the wind is like a challenge or barrier for them to face. The second photo that I also thought had more meaning to it was the tree hole and the mushrooms inside of it. Perseverance is definitely expressed here because the mushrooms are starting to take over the inside of the tree trunk to survive. This is also a comparison to the real world. For example, there are many people-- such as Steve Jobs--who have started out with very little and have pushed themselves to become a successful individual. So I think the fact that the mushrooms are starting to grow definitely serves as an idea to keep expanding and continuing without giving up. Also, I feel like these ones weren’t as obvious as the pictures I saw online during my research. A majority of pictures I found on the internet consisted of a lot of sports and emotions from people which in my opinion I think it is a little too straight forward and it doesn't go into a lot of depth. So ultimately, I feel like these two photos are the best representations for perseverance that I took outside.
