Brown Agus.Aricia Agestis.

Had a good day at Denbie Hillside,National Trust yesterday.Although the breeze was challenging, and the butterflies flighty,we have a small area which can be relied upon for species, slightly sheltered, and when the sun comes out a bit of a heat trap.

We spotted Green Hairstreak,Grizzled and Dingy Skippers,4 Adonis Blues(very flighty)Common Blues,Brimstone,Orange Tip,Peacock,Small Copper,and one of my favourites,the Brown Argus.

I followed this particular butterfly as it flew around, hoping it would land on a stem or dead flower head. After some not so good shots, the butterfly settled on this tallish stem,a bit wavy in the breeze, but at least it seemed to be resting for a while.I've always liked backlighting, and on this occasion the stem was long enough to get under the Argus and take several shots,I also noticed that a fine gossamer web on the stem with trapped moisture, also lit up by the sun.

Please view large to get the full effect of the light..thanks.
