Banbury Cross - FF - 2021/41 (R3_00498-01)

Banbury was put on the map in the English speaking world by the traditional and famous English nursery rhyme 'Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross' dating back to 1784.
This is the current 'one and only' cross in Banbury, although the town has had several over the years, three being destroyed by the Puritans in 1600!
Ride a cock-horse to Banbury Cross,
To see a fine lady upon a white horse;
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,
And she shall have music wherever she goes.
