Fort Saint-Elme, Collioure, France (Eastern Pyrenees)

 

Fort San Telmo is a military fort built between 1538 and 1552 under Charles I from a tower founded in the eighth century by the Moors. It is located in the municipality of Colliure, 30km southeast of Perpignan in the department of the eastern Pyrenees. Historical monument of the Costa Bermeja, the fort is since 2008 a museum with collections of medieval and Renaissance weapons, temporary exhibitions and a panorama of the region on the terrace.
