Birmingham Careers, Earn While You Learn Initiative

The City Of Birmingham Announces Birmingham Careers, Earn While You Learn Initiative.

Young millennials have voiced their opinions lately about the lack of job opportunities available to high school and college graduates in metro Birmingham. The City of Birmingham apparently has heard the concerns and have created an opportunity for students to earn money while they’re learning on the job training and development skills.

This morning, a press conference was held at Wenonah High School and featured comments from Councilor Johnathan F. Austin (District 5) x Jay Roberson (District 7) x Sheila Tyson (District 6) x Curt Atkinson (AIDA Project) x Monty Edwards (Trane Corp) and Michael Robinson with UAB Innovate Birmingham.

Counselor Tyson spoke positively about the new initiative sharing the opportunity is for individuals aged 17 – 29. Tyson further explained that the job training programs could lead to potential earnings of $22/hr.

Councilor Jay Roberson also spoke favorably of the new initiative saying that it could stimulate possible nine hundred jobs.

Anyone interested in this new initiative can stop by Innovate Birmingham 1500 1st Avenue N #31 Birmingham, Alabama 35203 or they can apply at innovatebham.com.

All speakers asked that we spread the word to ensure that respective candidates apply for the paid internships.
