the light on bare peaks

With my impeccable note taking abilities, I can honestly say that this image was taken somewhere between Colorado and Utah. I would also love to spin a yarn of how I trekked a vigorous fourteen miles off-road with my tripod and camera over my shoulder, wiping the sweat from my brow and brushing the dust from my hat. To arrive at the perfect spot, to compose, and to wait for the perfect light.

But again, that would be just a yarn. The truth is that this image was grabbed while sitting in the passenger seat of our Toyota Camery Hybrid rental car (very nice by the way), window rolled down, camera in one hand and the other hand either in a bag of popcorn, or crunchy Cheetos (Flamin' Hot ). But don't think for one minute that this image was that easy. After several hundred miles of head turning at 90 degrees and the unbearable neck straining/tension of doing so, plus fighting with the restraints of the seat belts, and just being lazy, I could barely bring the viewfinder to my eye. But being the soldier of photography that I am, I fought through the pain and the orange colored sticky fingers to compose, and to wait for the perfect light, oops there it goes, oops it back, click, got it. It was painful, as I had to turn my head and neck past the 90 degrees, venturing into the very unbearable/uncomfortable zone.

But I'd do it all again for friends like you. Enjoy.

PS, after reviewing the shutter button on my K3, I can confirm that it was the Flamin' Hot Cheeto's!
