Little By Little - Groove Armada (Live at Brixton Academy 2013)

Tal vez estamos en nuestro camino. Tal vez hemos ido demasiado lejos. Tal vez deberíamos ir más despacio y estar donde realmente estamos. Si crees que no hay otro camino intenta vivir hoy poco a poco... a tu manera... poco a poco.

FM - Steely Dan (93.9 on your radio dial, music for gourmet)

I have often thought that music critics should have created a definition or musical style called “gourmet music” where only Steely Dan, a genuinely New York group, would be in this concept. Music to savor, to delight, to taste. Records perfectly recorded for the times in which they were created, far from today's technologies. Music as accurate as possible, of high level and purity. Each sound is precise, nothing is left over, nothing is missing, everything makes sense and is perfectly studied the place occupied by a particular tone or sound. Music of sophisticated technical and creative arrangements. Music of luxury, of glamour... in short, of good music. First you must put on that tuxedo you've only worn once in your life and then sit down in front of the speakers to taste the refined music, while savoring some toast spread with butter and caviar. Music for gourmets... When you finish listening to his music, don't forget to go to the closet to leave in it, that tuxedo that you have already used... twice.

Gaucho - Steely Dan / Gaucho (1980)

Babylon Sisters - Steely Dan / Gaucho (1980)

Glamour Profession - Steely Dan / Gaucho (1980)

Aja - Steely Dan / Aja (1977)

Deacon Blues - Steely Dan / Aja (1977)

Home At Last - Steely Dan / Aja (1977)

Do It Again - Steely Dan / Can't Buy A Thrill (1972)

‘Gaucho’ and ‘Aja’ are possibly Steely Dan's two best albums. The cover of Aja was created by Hideki Fujii, a very creative and artistic Japanese professionañ photographer, specialized in advertising photography, portrait and female nude (where he stood out in a very remarkable way) being also, at least for me, one of the best fashion photographers. Maybe the best.

Pretzel Logic - Steely Dan (1974)

Pretzel Logic

Rikki Don't Lose That Number

Any Major Dude Will Tell You

A pretzel is a type of baked and twisted bun in the shape of a loop, with a salty flavor. It originated in Germany and was brought to North America by German immigrants, known as "Pennsylvania Dutch". Pretzels are a classic element of New York City street and fast food because of their taste, portability and affordability. Perfect for the city's busy lifestyle and deeply rooted in N. Y. urban life. Although they are sold all over the city, pretzel stands are located in high-traffic areas such as Times Square near Central Park, where they were especially plentiful in the 70s and 80s. The cover of Steely Dan's “Pretzel Logic” was taken by American photographer Raeanne Rubenstein at Miner's Gate in Central Park and her photographic motif is a pretzel peddler. Only a city like New York, a multicultural, integrative city, a city that is a world reference in culture, art and ideas, is capable of integrating a product like the pretzel that connects people with a rich cultural heritage shared by several generations of New Yorkers. An icon and symbol of the urban culture... of ny.
