DH San Juan/Service trip
These photos are all from my first program working for Deer Hill. It was me 2 other staff members and 15 low income, high achieving high school sophomores from all over the US. We did a week of river rafting on the San Juan river then a week of service projects on the Hopi Reservation. The kids loved the river and had a blast floating for many days. I did too. Some kids struggled during the service projects as we had to do many hours of weeding corn fields in the hot desert. They did feel a sense of accomplishment after seeing all their hard work when the jobs were done. (july 2017)
