Surgical Circular Stapler Anvil 3D Parallel View

EEA Circular Stapler made by Medtronic which is used for various surgeries requiring an intestinal anastomosis (connection between two adjacent tubes / channels). This part is the anvil which is pushed through two small holes, one made on each part of the adjacent sections of bowel. The pointed spot can be sutured and directed into the other end of the stapler. The device has a ring of circular staples in a dual layer arrangement. Upon triggering the stapler, first the two sections are stapled together and then a built in blade is used against the tough white part of the anvil to cut a hole and complete the anastomosis. There are other ways of completing an anastomosis such as manually using suture or with linear staplers.
