King Clown
DCU Green Lantern Corps #45 Imprisonment (Starcrossed)
John stepped into the small home, noticing how bare it all was. Katar moved to sit on his couch. "So, why are you here?"
John took a moment before looking at him. "The rebellion… you're the good guys in it all."
Katar nodded his head. "The monarchy… they aren't fit to lead. They have done nothing but forgot about us. Left us to fend for scraps."
John looked down. "I thought so. I'll help you, but I can't directly intervene with- with…" the sound of John falling to the floor echoed throughout the room, Katar following suit. From the shadows walked a man with no eyes and a sword on his back.
"The revolution shall never succeed."

"Ugh… my head," sighed John as he stood from the floor. Turning to his left, he saw that he was in a holding cell, Katar next to him. "Damn monarchy…"
As John raised his fist to blast out, a feminine voice spoke. "The cells are lined with ion conduits," informed the woman, "your ring will not work."
Stepping into the light revealed the voice to belong to Princess Shayera. "Princess?" asked John, confused at her appearance.
Katar slowly lifted his head from unconsciousness, the second he did so his mind went blank.
"No one can ever know… but it is fine if you are with me, Shayera".
"It will always be fine if you are with me, Katar."
Both Katar and Shayera both reached for their heads, as if it would stop. "Y-You! What are you doing to me?" shouted Shayera, confused at the vision.
Katar pointed an accusatory finger at her, screaming, "Me? What are you doing?"
John raised his hands, hoping to quiet the two down. "Listen, we can talk this out, we just can't-"
"Princess? Why are you done here with these traitors?"
From the doorway of the room, Hro, Hal, Guy, and multiple soldiers stepped inside. "John? General Talak, what's going on?"
Katar watched as the guns all drained on Hal and Guy, but his vision swayed back towards Shayera.
"Hro, sto-"
"Shut up! You will agree! If you don't, you know the power I can issue!"
"You're a monster…"
"Hmph, a monster who you will marry."
The vision was different this time. Clearer. It wasn't about him… but the princess…
"Stop!"
All eyes in the room turned to Katar, waiting for his words.
"You… you don't love her… you're power hungry," his words dripped with venom, though he didn't know why. Why did he care so much?
Hro chuckled slightly. "You know nothing, commoner," he spoke, training his head away.
"Then prove it!" he shouted, regaining the General's attention. "Prove you love her by… by dueling me!"
Shayera's eyes widened at the words.
"What was that?" asked Hro, not believing what he heard.
"Duel me… if you win, you can execute me publicly to show that the insurgency is futile," he narrowed his eyes, turning his head to Shayera. "But if I win, I take Princess Shayera's hand in marriage… and you leave Thanagar and never return."
Hro smirked. "Then let the duel… begin."
