DCU Green Lantern Corps #41 Plug Boi Returns (Starcrossed)

A small energy bullet soared past Hal Jordan's head as he weaved to the left. Extending his arm out a small bubble appeared in front of him to block the shots. His other hand held onto his shoulder where he had been grazed by one of the shots. It had seared his skin through his costume.

Across the field, a man clad in a white suit with a blue cape blasted energy from his staff at Guy Gardner. He used his power ring to blast energy back, making fun of the villain as he did. "What kind of villain runs around in a top hat with a cane?" The villain was disgusted by the remark. "I'll let you know I am in the highest of class."

A metal girder slammed into a green glowing brace a few meters away. John Stewart was doing his best to hold off the onslaught of Dr. Polaris. "Neal! This isn't you!" The metal continued, now with greater force than before. "You lied to me! He walked with a slap on the wrist!"

The metal's rapid assault was more intense than it seemed. In truth, Neal had been honing his power for the past two years, making him able to unleash much more devastating attacks. The metal was unrelenting, crushing the pillars of green used to stop it.

Hal, still holding the energy bubble, began to move forward. The Gambler was taken back, his bullets should be penetrating the shield. He started to move backwards, still firing off rounds at the bubble. "How the hell is you doin' that?"

The loudmouthed Texan eventually stumbled over his feet while trying to back away, falling to the floor. Hal stepped over him and gave him a single blow to the head, knocking him out cold. Picking up the gun, "Yep, he had one mag of real ion bullets. Somebody tricked you."

Guy was taking care of his villain, The Lamplighter, easily as well. The redhead created a gun, as he continued with his energy blast, firing a shot to break the staff's crystal core. The man stared in bewilderment, looking back to Guy only to receive a broken nose. "And the lamp, us now turned off."

Continuing his battle against the magnetic threat, John began creating weapons to attack with. Swords, axes, maces, none seemed to work. Polaris created shields, swords, anything to counter the Lantern's attempts. Eventually, the attacks slowed and the metal dwindled. John knew something was wrong, especially when he looked up to see all of the metal now hovering above him. The metal began to rain down, like a meteor shower. The chunks and scraps of steel and nickel poured over the Lantern. He had to create a shield to block them.

As he left his front open to protect his head, a bowling ball size piece of cobalt flew at him. Luckily, Hal had been there to create a shield for his ally. Guy flew down to them as well.

"You think I needed them? I can kill all of you!" The metal that was previously stabbed into the roof construct John had made began to move around Neal like a maelstrom. "So how'd you beat this guy last time?" Guy asked, sounding more impatient than worried. "Someone distracted him, his ego is too large for him to leave it unchecked." Guy nodded.

The bubble opened, letting John fly out. "You know Neal, I'm surprised. You had to throw a crew together to stop us." John remarked, floating on the right side of Neal.

"Has to? Had to!? I only used them to hold off those two while I killed you!" The enraged Polaris shouted. "And look how that turned out. They're both down and I'm still alive."

Neal raised his arm to launch metal at John, but quickly turned, blocking Hal's giant fist from hitting him. "Ha! You fools think I will be tricked?! You are as idiotic as I th-"

"Hey Plug Boi!" Neal turned his head to see Guy behind him, holding a green bat construct. "Batter up!" Guy shouted as he performed an overhead swing with the bat. "NOT AGAAAAIN!" Was all Polaris could say as the bat struck the crown of his head, sending him flying into the pavement. After being grounded, he raised his arm, attempting to fight, but it dropped moments later.

"Plug Boi? Really?" Asked a disappointed Hal, standing next to a proud Guy. "I thought it was pretty good." John stood over the now unconscious Neal, shaking his head. "You need help Neal, this life doesn't fit you."

"Hey John, come here a second. There's a transmission from Salaak." John stepped over the unconscious villains over to his two friends. Hal's ring lit up with a hologram of Salaak.

"Greetings Hal, John, Guy. I have to inform you of a deep space mission you have been chosen for." Guy looked at John, who shrugged not knowing what it was about. "What about Jess and Simon?" Asked Hal, who was focused. "This is a mission for Honor Guards, the other two will stay to protect their sector." The trio all nodded. "Alright then, where are we headed?" Asked Guy, obviously itching to get going.

"Thanagar."
