Die einstige Burg Eller war Keimzelle des Dorfes Eller, das bis 1909 eine eigenständige Gemeinde war und südöstlich der Düsseldorfer Innenstadt gelegen ist. Das heutige Schloss mit seinen Nebengebäuden ist vom Schlosspark Eller umgeben, der in den Formen eines englischen Landschaftsparks angelegt wurde und mit einer Fläche von mehr als 30 Hektar eine der größten Parkanlagen Düsseldorfs ist. Der Inselpark am Schloss wurde in der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts, der südlich angrenzende Waldpark etwa 80 Jahre später, am Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts gestaltet. Der Park verfügt neben dem Schlossweiher über einen Vogelschutzweiher, welche beide vom Eselsbach gespeist werden. Benachbart ist der früher zum Schloss gehörende ehemalige Gutshof Eller, der noch heute landwirtschaftlich genutzt wird.
The former Eller Castle was the nucleus of the village of Eller, which was an independent community until 1909 and is located south-east of downtown Düsseldorf. Today's castle with its outbuildings is surrounded by the Eller Castle Park, which was laid out in the form of an English landscape park and, with an area of more than 30 hectares, is one of the largest parks in Düsseldorf. The island park at the castle was designed in the first half of the 19th century, the forest park to the south was designed around 80 years later, at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition to the castle pond, the park has a bird protection pond, both of which are fed by the Eselsbach. Adjacent is the former Eller estate, which used to belong to the castle and is still used for agriculture today.
