I took this photo on the fringes of a monastery festival, with traditional ritual mask dances. It exemplifies the tightrope walk of the small kingdom of Bhutan, no longer ignoring meaningful innovations, but still preserving the old traditions. That remains a difficult path.

Am Rande eines Klosterfestes, mit traditionellen rituellen Maskentänzen, habe ich dieses Foto aufgenommen. Es verdeutlicht exemplarisch die Gratwanderung des kleinen Königreiches Bhutan, sich sinnvollen Neuerungen nicht mehr zu verschließen, aber dennoch die alten Traditionen zu wahren. Das bleibt ein schwieriger Weg.
