Are Friends Electric?

On Friday we held another railway industry charity photo shoot in aid of Martin House Hospice, Halton Hospice, the Armed Forces Veterans Breakfast Club and the RSPCA at Nantwich.

The event raised £5,000 for charity and was attended by 65 photographers.

Our hosts were Locomotive Services Limited at their excellent Crewe depot and featured their Inter City electric fleet, including the unique class 89 as well as an Inter City liveried class 47.

The event was a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the completion of London to Glasgow West Coast Main Line electrification in 1974.

A huge thanks to the team at Locomotive Services for their support, with a particular shout out to John Humphries and his team. A big thanks to the AC Locomotive Group for allowing us to include the class 89 and a massive thanks to Oliver, Vincent and Tom for helping with the lighting and stewarding.

It's another shining example of how the railway industry can pull together to create great events in aid of a good cause. And on a personal level, having started my railway career in August 1990 amongst these locomotives at Longsight Electric Traction Depot and done my guard's training with Inter City at Crewe's bungalow, it was great to relive some memories.
