SOFT BELLY

Very cold day, standing by the water when I noticed something large and brown landing on a tree branch, very far away from me.

I wasn't planing on photographing birds, so the largest lens I had with me was my manual focus Nikon 200mm f4. I switch lenses and walked up in the general direction of my sighting. I saw this beauty fly past me and land on another tree, so I followed. Just as I was getting close to him he took off again but I saw where he landed, so I followed him again. I was able to get right under the branch that he was on, he was not even afraid of me. I waited for a better shot while my fingers and hands froze and became very painful.

Just as the pain in my fingers was becoming unbearable and I was loosing mobility, he took off and I was very lucky to get this shot from under him as he dove of the branch and flew away.
