Eastern Whipbird
This Eastern Whip bird (Psophodes olivaceus) came up very close to me. Normally I hear them in the dense undergrowth but never see them, but this one was very inquisitive. Sometimes it came closer than my lens could focus.
The adult Eastern Whip birds are generally a dark olive-green with a long tail and a grey-white belly. The head and breast are black, with a patch of white on each side side of the birds face with a black crest.
I love the whip sound of these birds and hear them often in the dense undergrowth.
Captured at Green Mountain (O'Reilly's), Queensland, Australia in the darkness of the rain forest..
Nikon D810 with 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR AF-S lens. Camera settings f/5.6, 280mm, 1/200 Sec, ISO6,400.
Explored.
ISO6400.
