I found this giant, years ago, on the Echo River Springs Trail, at Mammoth Cave National Park.
Some call this species a tulip-poplar tree, or a yellow poplar, but it's not a poplar at all; it's more closely related to the magnolia tree. The flowers look like tulips (see photo below).
