Maidenhair Fern (Adiantum pedatum)
A Late Summer Haiga
A graceful fern
Floats over the forest floor;
Maidenhair fern.
There are many maidenhair ferns in this area of Kentucky. I like the horseshoe shape of the fern plant and the neat-shaped pinnules (little leafets) and how they repel water.
Ferns are flowerless, seedless plants that reproduce using sperm, eggs, and spores, not seeds. This species is very beautiful, to me.
