It began to be built in 1440 by the Grand Master de Lastic and was completed by the Grand Master Pierre d'Aubusson. The original purpose of the Order of the Knights of St. John was to house and treat suffering pilgrims of the Holy Lands.
Now it houses the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes.
