Luke Cage Season One Review

So finished the new Netflix original, Luke Cage and it's great. These Netflix shows, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage and in March of next year, Iron Fist are great shows and I get more hyped about these shows more than the MCU movies.

The Netflix part of the MCU has matured progressively from Daredevil season one to Luke Cage, not as in more mature as in rating, but as film itself. The cinematography, the story, the direction, etc. is what has matured. The use of music in this show is great and moves the story along through song, like the jazz music in Cottonmouth's bar. Another thing, that I find very cool is the use of color. They don't use a yellow filter on the shots, but rooms and places have a yellow hue to them. Which is a small detail, but symbolic of Luke Cage's color.

I also love the episode four, Easter egg, of Luke's original costume. I thought that was great scene and humorous when he says to himself, "You look like a damn fool". With that, in episode three Luke has his Daredevil fight scene moment, where it's like a five minute plus scene of just pure ass kicking. It's pretty great.

Most of the performances were great in the show too. Standouts are Mike Colter. He's just still such a perfect Luke Cage to me, from Jessica Jones, I have thought that. Also, Simone Cook, as Misty Knight, though, the Misty Knight of the show is nothing like her comic book counterpart.

My only complaints with this season are the villains. They're not necessarily bad villains and poor acting, they're just unrealistically over the top. In particular the character of Shades. He's just very cartoon like to me.

But, other than that. Luke Cage is a great show and recommend you defiantly check it out, and I give it an A!
