Stranger Things Season One Review!
So I finally got around to watching Stranger Things on Netflix and wow just wow. Stranger Things season one is phenomenal. Absolutely fantastic. From the first scene all the way to last I was completely captivated. Never a dull moment.
Now what really does this show for me is the characters. Every single person does a great job performing their character in the show. I don't like every character but the performances are still good. My favorite character in the show has to be Chief Hopper, his dynamic character in the show is freaking fantastic. Also, Jonathan Byers, Eleven, and Dustin are some of my favorite characters too.
The show takes place in Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980's and the show shows that flawlessly. It looks like it was filmed in the 80's, with the cars, the items, the clothes, the buildings, the dialog. If I didn't know any better and someone told me that Stranger Things came out in the 80's I'd believe them.
And I think the homages are great to 80's pop culture and films. You can really tell the Duffer Brothers are huge fans and take inspiration of Steven Spielberg, Steven King, George Lucas, and others. People have said the homages got a little too over board and border line ripoffs of scenes or ideas from E.T or others films, but I think they were fine. Just because Eleven rode on Mike's bike, isn't a copy of E.T. With that the soundtrack is amazing!!! Definitely getting it on iTunes.
Um I'm not sure how to explain the story without spoiling anything so I'm just gonna not and say the story throughout the entirety of season one is great.
Now you guys are probably thinking, dude you literally like every movie and tv show ever. The lowest grade you've ever given anything is a B. Trust me I dislike movies, but I just happen to like all the movies I've reviewed on here so far. Yeah I could've given some of them a slightly lower grade, but whatever. For real though, Stranger Things season one gets an A+
